The book covers the ways in which ICT needs to be integrated within early education and the chapters are well structured to help readers understand that ICT is not exclusively about computers.
The authors acknowledge the risks of inappropriate or excessive use of computers and are clear in describing practical principles of developmentally appropriate technology. These sections may be especially helpful for readers who want to ensure proper use of the technology. There are also helpful sections that present ideas about emergent technological skills and technological literacy.
Despite some photographs, this is a fairly text-solid book, so some practitioners may also like to keep handy the short booklet More than computers (Early Education 2003) that John Siraj-Blatchford co-authored with Iram Siraj-Blatchford.
