Resources: Review - The right direction for emotional intelligence

2 mins read

Young people's lives do not fit neatly into a linear progression from school to work, though the overall programme, if delivered well, would undoubtedly build confidence and enhance emotional intelligence in young people.

The exercises are written in such a way that experienced practitioners who work with young people on confidence building and work around emotions and feelings will be able to dip in and out of the book and select the most appropriate tasks for the group or individual they are working with.

It is also published in a way that allows its exercises, resources and hand-outs to be easily photocopied. The exercises themselves are straightforward affairs, based on relevant and practical tasks. Many are designed as class sessions where the participants work in peer groups but could easily be adapted to work in different settings and for more challenging groups and those who may not have had positive experiences of school or education.
