Resources: Review - Growing pains and Asperger anxiety

1 min read
It does seem that adolescence for young people with Asperger syndrome is a time when parents, carers, educators and social work teams report an increased need for support and understanding. There is a great need for practical strategies for this age group and this book offers many from a variety of sources.

This collection of articles is an attempt to cover the subject of adolescence from all perspectives. It is difficult to identify the target readership, as the contributions from professionals, parents and people who have Asperger syndrome are written in very different styles.

However, as each chapter stands alone, the book is probably more useful as a reference book. Every one of the chapters contains excellent insights into the effects of Asperger syndrome and the experience of those it affects.

The contributors also offer a range of practical strategies that professionals, parents and individuals with Asperger syndrome can try, in order to cope with the real agonies of the transition to adulthood.
