Resources: Review - A lesson in aggression management

1 min read
I got through most of this book in one sitting; it was like an extended supervision of my career.

The book opens with an up-to-date analysis of the roles and obligations of all the agencies faced with social responsibilities. It also looks at the need to avert aggression, and the number of attacks on, and fatalities of, professionals in recent years.

It's a grim picture but Booker soon gets into the positive steps professionals can take to ensure we know the danger signs and know how to respond to a potentially aggressive client in a way that meets their needs, lessening their reliance on aggression. The chapter on interpersonal immediate techniques is particularly worth a read, while the last chapter on personal health brings the focus back to workers, and on how we can stay healthy and flourish in our roles.
