The book is split into two sections; Key Principles and Planning Youth Involvement. The nine key principles are fundamental and provide an important grounding to the styles, methods and approaches of children and young people's participation.
However, as practical sessions I think the way these areas are explored falls short of exciting and energising participants. The repetition of video clips, handouts and discussions for all nine principles fail to underpin the key aspects that make youth participation a success.
The Planning Youth Involvement sessions explore the what, where, why and how of participation. They facilitate a thorough process of understanding, mapping and planning youth involvement, while reiterating the rudiments of engaging young people.
