1. Understand what stress is. It is not being busy, or having to make decisions, or feeling under time pressure to achieve something. These things can add to stress. But they can also give a healthy buzz of heightened activity that we all need. Stress - unhealthy stress - is when the system is under constant pressure with not enough time to relax.
2. The body produces recognisable symptoms of stress, such as increased muscle tension, quicker heart rate and breathing. Again, these are not in themselves negative. They can be useful if you are organising a big event. But if they go on too long and become a constant state rather than a temporary one, you can develop negative symptoms of stress.
