Mission: To raise awareness about "hidden disabilities" such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia and dyspraxia
Funding: 34,000 from the Youth Opportunity Fund via Bolton Youth Service
"I got the idea for this project because it was something I wish I'd had when I was at school," explains James Taylor, 17, founder of the Ambassadors 4 Disabilities project.
James started the project with the help of a youth worker from the Bolton Parent Partnership Service and funding from the Youth Opportunity Fund. The aim is to work with schools to enable young people to learn about "hidden disabilities" such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia and dyspraxia. The disabilities can cause problems such as learning and co-ordination difficulties, a tendency to speak without thinking, and an inability to concentrate.
