In 2001, the National Children's Bureau began the Big Idea project,which brought together charities working with children and young peopleto explore the benefits of working together to provide services. Part ofthis involved the idea of getting children and young people involved inbuilding planning and this toolkit is based on the experiences that cameout of this. It offers top tips and examples of good practice.

The initiative was developed bythe Booktrust in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and willlaunch England-wide in October. This web site aims to act as aninformation hub for teachers. As well as ideas and resources onencouraging writing, the site also allows members to share informationand expertise with others. It is aimed at both primary and secondaryteachers.
