Originally, Bridge House Estates was set up to maintain LondonBridge.
Today the charity supports all the City bridges: London; Tower;Southwark; Blackfriars; and the Millennium Bridge. Its grant-making armwas set up in 1995 to support charitable activity benefiting those inGreater London.
Any year's income above that needed to maintain the bridges goes to thetrust. In its first 10 years, the trust gave grants worth more than170m.
How much is on offer: There is no minimum or maximum amount but thetrust's grant must not be the largest that an organisation receives thatyear.
What it will fund: The main grants programme has five priority areas,one of which is children and young people up to the age of 25. However,grants are only given for activities that benefit residents in GreaterLondon.
