1 min read
What it is: This UK-wide charity was set up in 1994 to provide disabled children and young people with specialist equipment that will improve their quality of life.

The family picks the equipment and the charity funds its purchase. Thoselooking to buy specialist technology are encouraged to get advice toensure they purchase the right equipment. The charity recommends theAidis Trust for advice on computer equipment (www.aidis.org).

How much is on offer: Grants vary depending on the type of equipmentthat is needed. Although the charity generally limits grants to amaximum of 1,000, that amount is flexible and parents areencouraged to seek joint funding.

The charity prides itself on the speed of its application process andaims to reply to grant applications within a maximum of eight weeks. This is particularly important when dealing with children's equipment asthey may grow out of it if it is not purchased quickly enough.
