What will it fund? Eligible activities include conferences, training courses, seminars, information projects and networking activities. The call for proposals stresses the scheme is looking for innovation so applicants are invited to come up with new ideas they think would be useful. A priority theme is "the integration of young people with fewer opportunities living in suburban areas". Applicants will also be judged on overall Youth in Action priorities - such as European citizenship, participation by young people, cultural diversity and equal opportunities - and the extent to which projects combine co-operation, training and information and have a direct impact on young people and youth leaders. Quantitative factors such as number of partners and countries involved, and diversity of activities will also be applied.
Who can apply? Proposals by non-profit-making bodies that involve partners from at least four nations in the EU or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey. Rather intriguingly, the guidance also states: "Natural persons are not eligible for a grant." We've not been able to clarify this - maybe it makes more sense in German.
How much is available? The total budget for the programme is about 407,000. Individual projects can apply for up to 65 per cent of overall costs up to 68,000 over a 12-month period.
Application procedure: Applications need to be submitted by 30 June 2007 and applicants will be notified of the outcome by 30 November. Forms can be found on http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/youth.
