Funding will support activities that confront extremist ideologies, promote local positive role models, promote understanding of the benefits that Muslims and Islam have brought to local areas and promote dialogue and engagement between communities. Projects that have a focus on Muslim women and youth will be particularly valued. Examples include The Streets project, which works to empower young Muslims who are alienated from their mosque and local community. Another is the Green Light Forum in Dudley, formed by young Muslims, which aims to dispel misconceptions about Islam.
