What will it fund? There are three strands. The leadership capacity strand will fund projects that support "emerging leaders" to become effective spokespeople, as well as engage more effectively with the media and build support networks within and beyond Muslim communities. Mentoring for young people is one specific example mentioned. The organisational capacity strand will support groups to counter those who espouse violent extremism, especially those that involve women and young people and reach large numbers, and a range of denominations, ethnicities and cultures within Muslim communities. The final strand specifically seeks to empower Muslim women with the confidence, opportunity, tools and skills to participate fully within their communities. Grants can be used for start-up, staff, running or training costs. Capital expenditure must be linked directly to project activities and be no more than 50 per cent of the requested grant.
