Resources: Funding focus - Construction Youth Trust

1 min read

What will it fund? The trust can help provide a small number of bursaries for individuals to help cover the cost of courses, travel and equipment.

It also seeks to help develop partnerships with the private, public and voluntary sectors to ensure construction skills of all levels are promoted and that local young people can gain access to skills training and employment opportunities. The aim is to offer a wealth of funding, industry knowledge, advice and access to relevant contacts - in effect to act as a broker between groups within the construction industry and the community. In the past, the trust has given capital grants to help develop buildings for youth organisations - these are no longer available. More typically, the support now goes to small-scale craft taster courses or the creation of community initiatives aimed at trying to boost local access to regeneration employment. The trust is also moving into supporting partnerships that work towards both ensuring workplace diversity and supporting the employment of the many under-represented groups in Britain, including women and minority ethnic groups.
