What will it fund? Work with children and young people that are affected by: illness, distress, abuse or neglect; disability; behavioural or psychological impairment; or who are living in poverty or situations of deprivation. Typical areas that receive funding are projects dealing with bullying, child exploitation, substance abuse, sexual abuse, illness, disability and self-harm. Applications must be entirely focused on young people and, rather than just going on about what activities or services will be provided, applicants should clearly demonstrate how these things will make a long-term difference to young people's lives. Don't just say they are going to be "happier", but outline the ways in which their lives will improve. Where possible it should take into account their views and involve them in decisions that affect them. There is a range of exclusions including work that a statutory body is responsible for, medical treatment or research and the promotion of religion.
