Who can apply? Not-for-profit groups or parish and town councils, schools or health bodies, although the latter groups must be applying to fund sport, art, environment, heritage, education or health-related activities.
School projects must be extracurricular and take place outside the school day. The grant has to be used within one year. Many hundreds of youth groups have received funding for basic equipment to enhance provision.
The Nottingham-based Anti-Fascist Youth Arts Group received 2,500 to help fund a tour of a play and workshop on racism around youth centres.
The Birmingham Chinese Youth Centre received 5,000 to organise a Chinese arts and crafts exhibition, while Central Youth Club in Liverpool got a similar sum to help purchase a minibus to enable young people to visit sporting, educational and art projects outside of their local area.
