"For me, there were two really big challenges," reveals Ruth Hanbury,the local authority extended school remodelling advisor forCornwall.
"The first was actually getting to grips with what the whole project wasabout, how it was going to work and what it meant for us as a localauthority. The second came later, when it was time to help our schoolsoperate as clusters rather than as individual institutions.
"We decided that because Cornwall is a very rural area, with high levelsof deprivation, it made sense for our schools to serve their communitiescollectively by combining and sharing resources and ensuring that theirofferings complemented and did not duplicate each other," shecontinues.
