Residents and council join forces to create water play area

Myatt's Field Park in Lambeth, London, has a new water play area thanks to the hard work of a group of local residents.

The Myatt's Field Park Project Group raised 160,000 for the area,which is designed to allow children to have fun exploring their naturalfascination with water. Lambeth Council contributed a further 300,000 to the scheme. Labour councillor Mark Bennett, the LambethCouncil cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: "This is afantastic success story and shows what can be achieved when residentsand the council work together." The new area features water jets, wallsand spray misters. It is themed around the migration of people, animals,plants and birds.
