Residentials: YHA plans fewer subsidised camps

1 min read

The organisation, which in 2005 was awarded a 11.5m lottery-funded two-year contract by the Government to run the camps, expressed concern last year that it would not be able to continue to subsidise places if it did not receive extra funding (YPN, 5-11 July 2006, p5).

The 23 camps (down from 33 last year) will run from 22 July. Participants must pay 399, but young people in families that receive child tax credits will pay half that and young people whose families receive income support, working family tax credit, or free school meals will pay 25, as will looked-after young people. The minimum age has dropped from 11 to 10.
