RESIDENTIAL CARE: BBC defends its Taking Care season

The BBC has denied that its Taking Care season, looking at the lives of children in care, has been hit by low ratings figures across the board.

One programme, No Place Like Home, attracted only 12 per cent of the terrestrial audience share - or 2.8 million viewers - when it was screened last Thursday on BBC1 between 9pm and 10pm.

"It's about a lot more than ratings," said a BBC spokeswoman. "A massive effort has been made across the BBC to raise awareness and it's not fair to judge success on one programme. Feedback has been really good."
