Taking Care will run for the last two weeks of February and will tell the stories of children currently growing up in care, as well as of adult care leavers who have achieved success despite troubled upbringings.
Statistics show that 56 per cent of care leavers have no qualifications and a quarter of all prisoners have been in care. Children of women who have spent time in care are themselves two-and-a-half times more likely to go into care than their peers.
"Taking Care aims to show what we can all do to break the cycle of care," said Seetha Kumar, head of lifeskills at the BBC.
