Last year Stoke Council announced it wanted a private organisation to run its eight children's centres. Councillors and parents objected, saying they did not want the children's centres privatised. It is thought the centres cost the council £1.2m a year to run.
A paper on the issue was due to be considered by the council in December but has now been deferred until the spring to allow discussions to continue.
Now parents have met to consider trying to take over and run one of the centres themselves, rather than see it go into the hands of a private provider.
