RACE: Youth summits to tackle racial strife

1 min read

Young people from white, mixed race and Asian backgrounds have already completed questionnaires setting out their views on the problems. They will today (16 April) kick off a series of nine summits to establish mutual respect and identify common interests. The initiative, Banbury-3-Together, is facilitated by Jay Blades and Jade Erguvanli from independent company Street Dreams.

Following the summits, young people will invite key figures from the community to listen to them and their ideas.

It is likely that the police and local service providers will be invited to meet the young people; so too will youth service managers. "A lot of the complaints are related to the youth service," said Erguvanli.
