Quick guide to Youth Work Week

2 mins read

1: Youth Work Week is a national week, but almost all the action happens locally. Youth workers build the theme into their programme, run events, show off in front of councillors and others, and get publicity in local newspapers and on radio. This takes planning. So sometime soon is a good time to start.

2: This year's theme, "Your roots, your community", provides a particularly good opportunity to connect the generations. Too often youth work is only about young people. But if young people are to explore their community and its past - which is what the theme is all about - they need to come into contact with other people. This is good for them, and for others.
