Goals: To increase drug awareness among 16- to 25-year-olds living in South Shropshire
Funding: The project has previously received backing from the National Lottery and NatWest Bank. Funding is being sought to take it beyond April 2004
Dreamt up and driven by a committee of young people, the Real Project has been providing peer-led drugs education across South Shropshire since January 2001. Real uses a variety of channels to put across its message, ranging from visits to local secondary schools to targeted arts projects in care homes.
The team is composed of a paid youth worker, projects co-ordinator Si Price and 14 volunteers aged 16 to 25 who deliver much of the education.
