The Children's Services Private Finance Initiative will provide anopportunity for councils to extend existing or planned public-privatepartnership projects to support the delivery of the Every Child Mattersagenda.
The Government has contacted all councils in England to explain thescheme, confirmed Susan Shakespeare, capital strategy team leader forSure Start.
Speaking at a Local Government Chronicle conference last week, she saidthere would be approximately 20m per year for 2005/06 and 2007/08up to the next spending review.
The level of interest in the funding would determine future spending inthis area, she added.
"We hope to be able to gauge what people want to do in terms of joiningup with public-private partnerships and get a picture of the level ofresources that we need to make available to support that type of capitalprogramme," she explained.
