Zeal received the prize for the best magazine or web site created by young people for young people from former education minister Stephen Twigg at Young People Now's Positive Images Awards last week. It is funded by Thurrock Council and Connexions Essex, Southend and Thurrock. Mike Sinden, communications and consultation officer at Thurrock's children, young people and families directorate, said: "There are many ways to take the magazine further. One of the obvious things is to target those with visual impairments." Sinden said that the young people working on the magazine would record a version that could be distributed on CD or placed on Zeal's web site as a podcast. "Thurrock Connexions centre, where we are based, already has its own recording equipment," he said.
