Positive Images: The 2010 Positive Images Awards

1 min read
Positive Images, now open for entries, is a chance to reward positive media portrayals of young people. It is also a celebration of the young people who take media representation into their own hands, such as those at last year's Youth-Led Media Summit.

Children & Young People Now is this week launching the 2010 Positive Images awards. The awards reward young people for their positive media contributions and campaigns on youth issues. There are also awards for the media - journalists, producers and presenters - for reporting positive story angles on young people and youth issues.

The media often persists with negative stereotypes of young people as "yobs" or "hoodies" and rarely recognises the creativity and talent of tomorrow's generation. Positive Images aims to redress the balance.

To enter the awards, go to www.cypnow.co.uk and click on "Positive Images" to download an entry form, which contains full details. Entries must relate to work produced between January and December 2009 and be sent to: Positive Images Awards, Children & Young People Now, 174 Hammersmith Road, London W6 7JP. Entry is free.
