The growing popularity of Gaelic-medium education, where pupils are taught and immersed in Gaelic all day long, proves that the language is positively flourishing among our young people.

For these children, Gaelic is the language of the classroom - and the playground. Even in the Central Belt, not traditionally part of the Gaelic heartland, the number of parents who are choosing Gaelic education for their children is growing.

These are exciting times for Gaelic education. The number of pupils in Gaelic-medium education is increasing at both primary and secondary level.

We are training more teachers and providing finance and resources to meet the demands of a modern classroom. Later this year, we will publish a Gaelic language bill.
