But something changed for Mike. He found the Wybourn Youth Trust, which operates in one of the most disadvantaged parts of Sheffield. Wybourn is about expanding people's horizons, showing there is another world beyond the city that offers promise and excitement. For Mike that came through scuba diving, organised by Wybourn in the heart of the city. Now 18, he's off the drugs, in work and striving to see how he can go scuba diving in the Red Sea.
Wybourn is certainly special, but it's not unique. Throughout the country there are similar groups working with young people who have slipped through virtually every safety net.
