The report suggested that a lack of openly gay teachers, a lack of training on how to handle lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues (LGBT), and a lack of representation of LGBT issues in the school curriculum contributed to the prejudice young people say they experience at school. A UK respondent said: "There is also no sex education for gay people, so we are never shown how to have safe sex."
Patricia Prendiville, director of ILGA-Europe, says: "There is a clear need to protect young people from discrimination while in education. We will formulate concrete measures that will support LGBT young people in becoming full citizens of their societies."
