Fifteen-year-old John was referred to us because of serious behavioural incidents at school. These included starting a large fire on the school grounds. He was under threat of permanent exclusion.
My first visit to meet him and his parents was traumatic. I went to the house to find his mum on the doorstep, hands flapping, practically pulling me into the house. I was met by broken furniture, and John and his father rolling around the hallway floor, fighting.
