Expected hospital admissions of 15- to 19-year-olds from 2002-05

Leeds is now a thriving metropolis attracting a young population.
Its many bars, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs make the city a destination hub for nights out. A socio-demographic analysis of Leeds reveals that its young people are quite socially divided between a large student and graduate population and neighbourhoods of low-income families, many with unemployed and welfare-dependent young people. It is possible that the contrast creates additional flashpoints, fuelled by excessive alcohol, and may be a contributory factor to the number of assaults on teenagers.
