Positive Futures? I know this one: "play sport and you'll stay off drugs"?

Fortunately public policy is a little more sophisticated than you give it credit for. Positive Futures is a programme that encourages involvement in sport, but if you read the small print you will see that it is not primarily a sport development programme or a diversionary project: it is a "relationship strategy".

Explain. Positive Futures projects target the 50 most at-risk and vulnerable young people in their area. Sport is the hook to get them involved in a supportive environment where relationships of trust and confidence can be built.
