Remind me again of the difference between careers education and guidance. Careers education helps young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to manage transitions in learning and move into work. Guidance enables them to use those skills to make the right decisions. While Connexions has taken on much of this role, schools, colleges and training bodies still have to provide careers education and guidance programmes.

And why have they produced a new framework now? There are changes afoot to introduce new vocational routes for young people from the age of 14, including controversial measures such as dropping the compulsory foreign language.
