The police force hopes the move will allow it to strike up a relationship with children at an early age and make families aware of who their local police officer is.
A police community support officer will visit the nursery on a weekly basis and the hope is that when the children grow up they will already have a good relationship with the police.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said there was nothing sinister about the initiative. "We're not trying to police young children, that isn't our intention," he said. "It's about getting to know parents and getting to know the children so they build up a relationship with their local officer, in the same way that people used to know their local bobby on the beat."
