The Home Office's From the Neighbourhood to the National paper, released last week, sets out proposals for police reforms.
Among the changes would be an expectation on the police to engage with hard-to-reach groups such as young people to meet a new Policing Pledge. The pledge aims to clarify what the public can expect from the police and to make sure the public's voices are heard by their local force.
While the green paper acknowledged that many forces may already be working with young people, it said there is still more to do. "We need those forces that are leading the way to share their experience with other forces," it said.
