Playwork Partnerships and the University of Gloucestershire developedthe qualification following a surge in the number of local authoritiesrunning play ranger projects to meet Big Lottery Fund criteria.
Daniel Rees-Jones, a play ranger contracted to research thequalification, said although it was still under development, thequalification was likely to be a Level 2 course to supplement coreprofessional training in play or youth work.
Rees-Jones said the course would help encourage community involvementand partnership working. It will also include training on health andsafety risk assessments, risky play, how to use the weather creativelyand facilitating freely chosen play in an open space.
The qualification has been commissioned by the Cwlwm childcarepartnership.
