The warning came as details emerged of new planning standards toincrease the quality and quantity of children's play spaces in newdevelopments across London.
Enhancing Urban Green Space, published by MPs on Parliament's PublicAccounts Committee last week, found that two-thirds of councils had notconsidered the needs of children and teenagers when planning greenspaces and four-fifths of councils did not co-ordinate green space andearly years decisions. Almost half did not co-ordinate with playstrategies.
Speaking at Play England's conference last week, committee member andLabour MP Helen Goodman expressed concern that existing regulations andnew planning proposals did not require that a portion of land bereserved for green spaces and children's play.
