Children's minister Beverley Hughes attends the opening of a 1.25m adventure playground in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The playground and accompanying centre, called The Addy, caters for toddlers to 19-year-olds. Facilities on offer include a Sure Start play area, two floodlit sports areas and an adventure playground. The Addy will be operated by Manchester Young Lives, a voluntary group that runs play and youth work activities in the city. "There has been a real shortage of facilities for children and young people in this area," explained Tim Ferguson, director of Manchester Young Lives.
