The Children's Play Council has been awarded the money by the BigLottery Fund to devise proposals for a new regional supportinfrastructure for children's play and to develop guidance on localauthority play strategies.
The three-month project is the first outcome from the new 155mLottery programme for play announced earlier this year. Twenty per centof this fund has been earmarked for the support of infrastructure and topromote innovation.
"The Big Lottery Fund has announced it wants to support the developmentof infrastructure for play, partly to support the play programme andwork with local authorities around the development of play strategies,"said play council director Adrian Voce. "But it also recognises a widerremit for such an agency or infrastructure to promote play across theboard and keep it high on the agenda."
