Play: Children 'being raised in captivity'

Only one in five of today's children plays out on the street or in local parks every day.

The Play England poll of 1,030 children aged seven to 16 comes as100,000 children join in the 20th Playday, an annual celebration ofchildren's right to play, at events across the UK.

Adrian Voce, director of Play England, said: "The space to play and thefreedom that children have to enjoy it has diminished to the point thatmany children are being effectively raised in captivity."
