Bright Horizons Family Solutions, a company that helps employers providechildcare for staff, hopes to help some of the most disadvantagedchildren in the UK via the new charity. It launched the Bright HorizonsFoundation for Children in Europe last year and is awaiting officialcharity status.
Foundation director Susan Hay said a priority would be to create playspaces in temporary housing for homeless families and those affected bydomestic violence.
"We wanted to focus our efforts on where there might be gaps inprovision and we found there were real problems in homelessness andtemporary accommodation," said Hay. "(Lack of play space) can create aninitial disengagement of children from education and affects their lifechances going forward."
