Plan to prevent 2012 traffickers

The Olympics minister has pledged to put in place plans to prevent a surge in human trafficking during the London 2012 games.

Speaking in Parliament last week, Tessa Jowell said she would consultrelevant stakeholders and develop an action plan to stop traffickingfrom tainting the games.

CYP Now reported last month that the five host Olympic boroughs were notpreparing for a probable increase in child trafficking (CYP Now, 15-21October).

Ruth Breslin, of trafficking charity Eaves, said: "Careful forwardplanning is required to ensure a comprehensive multi-agencyapproach."
