The agreement will give youth workers a pay rise of about three per cent, which will be backdated from November 2003. The money should be paid in time for Christmas.
The deal is a compromise between employers and the unions on when a new pay and grading structure should come into effect.
The settlement puts staff on to the new structure from November last year, but every post has to be reassessed by April 2005, which could mean some workers receiving further increases.
