Specialist service supports school-based staff to develop tailored interventions to meet children’s complex emotional, behavioural and educational needs

The service is also part of Birmingham Children’s Trust’s early help offer and helps support the wider social needs of vulnerable children and families

Initial analysis shows a decline in exclusions and boost in trusted relationships between children, families and support staff

The Birmingham SEMH Pathfinder grew from research that found many young people in the city were being expelled from mainstream education without a clear understanding of the reasons behind their challenging behaviour.
