Participation: Y Speak to tighten belt after cutbacks

1 min read

Changemakers will continue to manage the fund for the Department for Education and Skills in 2005-06, but the amount of cash available has fallen from 475,000 to 420,000. There have also been changes to the way the money is distributed, with the English fund being split equally between three regions.

Nick Osborne, Y Speak manager at Changemakers, said: "The competition in the Southeast will be even stronger."

In 2005-06 there will be three rounds of funding. Closing dates for applications are 14 April, 30 June and 29 September 2005.

Average grants of about 5,000 are available for organisations, and 1,000 for groups of young people. The number of grants for young people has been increased from 12 to 54, while organisational grants have increased from 70 to 72.
