PARTICIPATION: Consultation fund will reimburse the young

1 min read

Under the plans, youth groups, including asylum seekers, young people in socially deprived areas and children with disabilities, will be given the financial means to have their voices heard.

Supported by the Children and Young People's Unit (CYPU), the three-year 1.5m Youth Consultation Fund is particularly intended to extend political participation among children and young people who do not normally take part in debates.

For successful applications, the fund will cover costs such as participants' travel, delegate fees, accommodation and expenses for support workers.

Voluntary organisations will be able to apply for funding on behalf of children and young people, using the guidance and application details that are available on the CYPU web site, www.cypu.gov.uk, from mid-May.
