PARTICIPATION: Conference to look at local democracy

The event is being staged to help local authorities develop ideas for Local Democracy Week, which will take place from 18-24 October.

It is also promoting Super Election Day on 10 June, when local elections will be held in England and Wales, as well as European and London mayoral elections.

Workshops will cover the barriers to young people's participation in local politics, and attempt to come up with solutions, which will be made available on the Local Democracy Week web site.

This is the sixth year of Local Democracy Week and more than 300 councils are expected to get involved.
