PARTICIPATION: BBC politics contest reaches final stages

1 min read

The 12 schools are taking part in the Schools Question Time initiative.

It is organised by the Institute for Citizenship, in association with BT and the BBC.

Each shortlisted school will get a 500 grant from BT to stage a local version of Question Time. BBC judges will attend each event and four schools will be chosen as national winners.

Julie Easy, education director of the Institute for Citizenship, said: "Part of the institute's role is to encourage interest in politics. This competition will help." The winners will visit BBC Television Centre in July to create their own programme, which will be broadcast.
